Caraway Seeds

Caraway is one of the most ancient of all herbs, and said to have been in use for thousands of years for both medicinal and culinary purposes.

The pungent, slightly sweet, aromatic, anise flavour of Caraway makes it a perfect partner to fatty meats or hearty cakes and steamed puddings, as well giving a great lift to any vegetable. It has a great affinity with cabbage and when gently fried in butter with some blanched, thinly cut cabbage will create a wonderful dish that even the most ardent cabbage hater will struggle not to enjoy.

Widely used in Europe to flavour bread and cakes, it is equally at home in a sweet dish as a savoury one. Try a few seeds in dumplings as a perfect partner for goulash.
